Microsoft expands preview of Discovery for agentic R&D

Microsoft has expanded preview access to Microsoft Discovery, an enterprise-grade, agentic AI platform for research and development.

• Expanded preview access: Microsoft is broadening preview access to Microsoft Discovery to enable R&D organizations to use agentic AI for hypothesis generation, validation, and iterative discovery. The announcement highlights integration with Azure, HPC, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Foundry, and Microsoft Fabric, and references a prior internal use where Microsoft researchers identified a novel, non-PFAS immersion datacenter coolant prototype in about 200 hours.
• Customer deployments and partner integrations: Customers and partners include Syensqo (scaling Microsoft Discovery enterprise-wide to unify data, simulation, and AI workflows), GigaTIME (integrating virtual mIF outputs for oncology research; research-use-only), PhysicsX (integrated with Discovery to accelerate Microsoft Surface cooling fan design), and Synopsys (leveraging agentic workflows for chip design). Microsoft notes that Discovery is offered in preview and that features, availability, and integrations may change prior to general availability.
