ESI Africa issue examines AI, energy and infrastructure challenges

ESI Africa has released its latest issue focusing on AI, energy and infrastructure across Africa.

• Cover Story on AI & infrastructure: The issue’s cover story examines how AI powers the brain of infrastructure, noting that “On a daily basis, a typical 100MW hyperscale data center needed to power AI can consume 6,500 homes’ water needs. And note that 55% of new data centers exceed 200MW.” The edition also includes a Show Guide to Enlit Africa 2026 (19–21 May at the CTICC, Cape Town).
• Broader coverage and finance focus: The magazine contains chapters such as Across the Map (deep dives on Ethiopia’s evolving energy mix, SDG7 progress, and Kenya’s renewable ambitions), Investment Mechanics (three pillars for bankable projects, the growing role of credit guarantees, and local credit rating capacity), and Engines of Energy (coverage of pumped storage, geothermal and steps toward nuclear).
